Choose to automatically save your 2007 Office documents in the 2003 format. Microsoft does offer a converter for 2003 users, but some times it doesn't work. This is an easy fix. You can always choose to save in the 2007 format if you wish.

You open the 2003 document in 2007, then choose "save as" from the menu-- you'll have the choice to save in several different formats from the drop down, the first being the 2007 format (.docx in Word or .xlsx in Excel). All 2007 docs end with the "x"
