Angel on My Shoulder, released in 1946, is a drama with comedic overtones about gangster Eddie Kagel. Soon after his release from prison, Eddie (played by Paul Muni) is murdered by "Smiley, that slimy double crossing rat."His next destination comes as no surprise. Macabre but humorously played servants of Satan welcome Eddie but have a hard time controlling him. Eddie is given a chance to return to earth to extract revenge for his murder. He is accompanied by "Nick," played by Claude Rains of Casablanca fame.During his time back on earth he manages to do some good works, fall in love with Barbara Foster (played by Anne Baxter) and makes "Nick" sorry that he ever struck a deal with Eddie.
