Well, it kind of makes sense cause when WE die, our bodies eventually turn into dust and nourish plants etc... circle of life... but since Vampires aren't even "alive" I guess that they WOULD turn into something that does NOT nourish life like sand.. I may be thinking to deeply into this but at least you get where the sand idea comes from, right? :) lol!
