Ok, I just decided that this video has been up since high-school and people are still debating about it, I will put most of the debates to rest. First a little background info:Jack, or Jaku, as he likes to be called so his name sounds more Japanese I guess (-.-!)And Roth from NRG had mutual friends. This friend asked Roth to teach Jack a thing or two about how to tune and drive AE86s. View this vid from Jack http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... And this one from Roth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... you will see why. Yes both had 20v4age engines. (Verified by several sources) Jack's sounds different due to the fact that he left the intake plenum on (Air flow metered), where Roth was running open throttle (MAP version).First things to note:Steering work, Jack's hands are everywhere, Roth at 3 and 9 steady. (clears hairpins with throttle control)Footwork, see the throttle control from above. Also note the differences in entry speeds and braking. Roth uses heel toe assisted braking and weight shift tech. (I think Jack double clutches and only gases at the exit)At any rate these major differences can account for much of the time differences. They were supposed to meet up at a canyon for a downhill run. For some reason Jack decides to publicize the event. Conveniently enough, law enforcement arrives. (make your own conclusions here) blame and lots of hate mail go to Jack. Roth doesn't care but decides not to do this again.Roth and red Evo (Terry) do a downhill run. He is in the AE86 with worn tires.Couple cars show up in the lanes like 3, (single lane driving of course). Roth waits for Terry at these points. (Never says he used the cars to expand a lead like Jack posts. It is the opposite in fact. If he had decided to full on pass using double lane the margin would have been quite larger.)Uphill run goes to Evo hands down obviously. (Roth admits that Evo kept up and he was pretty good)Evo stock 270hp AE86 160 uphill draw your own conclusions. At any rate, there was no margin and no passing. For this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... you all can see there is a white 4 dr EK in front. Roth was tutoring this guy, much like me and a couple others how to run canyon single lane. The Civic has stock d15. Should I repeat that? Stock d15 uphill..... Nuff said. No passing since he was teaching by watching from the back for first run. The red civic, was not passed using double lane. He was passed on the long straight, and gave way to the STi and white EK. Jack would not have seen this as he was not there decided to draw his own assumptions I guess. At anyrate he caught up to a d15 equipped EK woo hoo..... -.- (yay kill....)Please note that at the top, the EK and STi are facing uphill side by side where Jack is already making a U-turn and decides to take off. WTH kind of racing is that? Make your own assumptions. This video shows the actual downhill run from Roth's POV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... note that the S2k is long gone because he decides not to race. (yet he calls it a kill) here is Jack's POV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... Note also that if you put their vids side by side this video, single lane is faster than Jack's dual lane. Note also this was Roth's demonstration to the EK of the one-handed technique. Repeat: one-handed, with this time, single lane. (o.O) Imagine what is time would be with 2 hands? I will let you know later.A few things to note:STi had all weathers for snowboard seasons equipped (-.-) 215-45-17Once again foot work and steering work (to pull off the one-handed tech with this time with those tight rand hand hairpins requires a lot of tech.)Jack seems to not have improved much at all. Steering and footwork looks same. Looks like all S2k to me.Lastly, this was the finish line and Roth usually goes 20mph from here. Yes... he raced all the way until he saw the S2k turn around... right....... TBH he said he didn't give a flying fuck about Jack at this point. Make your own assumptions why.Few notes post these vids.Roth repeatedly asked Jack to go to NRG for an official recording obviously you know who chickens out (don't know why don't care)Roth has run Jack in several cars, once, most noteably in the rain, where Roth states he laughed the whole way down. But it was good he was trying to learn tech in the rain.Comments about Jack "He's not bad but nowhere near good enough to talk shit or teach anyone how to drive."We will never see a rematch as the MY05, and AE86 are now gone.He has moved onto bigger things and has been involved with the American Touge series, FF3 and 4 since then.Last note: Before he quit NRG beg. 2007 I asked for one full throttle single-lane downhill run in each car 4-wheel drift and all 2:30am.Here are the times (using this bid as beg and end points) AE86: 1:44sec MY05: 1:51secCase and comments closed
