ANCHOR:And now onto Bangkok. After a month of protests inside the Government House compound, nine People's Alliance for Democracy or PAD, leaders have been arrested accused of treason. And now PAD members say they'll continue their protests with more resolve.STORY:Thai police arrested a key leader of a month-long protest inside Bangkok's Government House compound by the People's Alliance for Democracy.Chamlong Srimuang, was arrested after leaving the prime minister's official compound, where he and thousands of anti-government protesters have been barricaded since late August. He was going to vote in the capital's mayoral elections.The detained anti-government figure urged his supporters to continue their protest, a call many headed.[Boonroong Saedan, Protester]:"I came out here once I have heard about the arrest to help support the protest."[Chanu Nilthamrongsilp, Protester]:"We will definitely fight on, even more than before. It will be a greater protest than it was because he is our hero. He did not do anything wrong. He was doing this for the country, and there was nothing in it for himself. The charge against him is not legitimate."A court issued arrest warrants for Chamlong and eight other PAD figureheads on August 27, the day after thousands of protesters broke into government ministries and a state television station before overrunning Government House.The nine were accused of inciting unrest and trying to overthrow the government, charges that amount to treason and can carry the death penalty.
